The St George Bicycle User Group (fondly known as "St George BUG") is an active community group dedicated to promoting cycling to enthusiastic residents living anywhere around Hurstville, Kogarah, Rockdale, Wolli Creek and Tempe areas.
The St George BUG has been busy with a variety of engaging activities. Beyond their regular social rides, the group has been busy exploring new places and learning about a bunch of diverse cycling-related topics - from discovering the newest cycling pathways, to checking out the best cycling gear deals online to even engaging in "healthy debates" about the best almond croissant pastry shops in the city (haha!).
The St George BUG also often undertake all sorts of exploratory and fun rides, including:
- Rookwood's fascinating cemetery history and Art sculpture tours
- Around-the-City Harbour jaunts
- Thirroul to Wollongong and even up to Kiama
- City-to-Manly Dam, sometimes as far as Narrabeen Lagoon
- Drummoyne coffee stops and Swims at Balmain Beach
- Riverwood wetland tours
- Parks ride - Olympic, Centennial - you name it, we've done it.
The group is described as very active and welcomes cyclists of all experience levels, fitness, age, and bike types. Their primary goal is to have fun and enjoy each other's company, and membership is open to anyone, regardless of where they live.
Ready to roll with the St George BUG? They're all about good times on two wheels! You don't even have to be a member to give them a try. Just come along for a ride and see if you love it as much as they do.
